Chess New Game

Chess New Game is a board game for two players. It is played on a square board, made of 64 smaller squares, with eight squares on each side. Each player starts with sixteen pieces: eight pawns, two knights, two bishops, two rooks, one queen and one king. The goal of the game is for each player to try and checkmate the king of the opponent. Checkmate is a threat ('check') to the opposing king which no move can stop. It ends the game.

During the game the two opponents take turns to move one of their pieces to a different square of the board. One player ('White') has pieces of a light color; the other player ('Black') has pieces of a dark color. There are rules about how pieces move, and about taking the opponent's pieces off the board. The player with white pieces always makes the first move. Because of this, White has a small advantage, and wins more often than Black in tournament games.

Chess New Game è un gioco da tavolo per due giocatori. Si gioca su una tavola quadrata, composta da 64 quadrati più piccoli, con otto quadrati per lato. Ogni giocatore inizia con sedici pezzi: otto pedine, due cavalieri, due vescovi, due torri, una regina e un re. L'obiettivo del gioco è che ogni giocatore cerchi di dare scacco matto al re dell'avversario. Scacco matto è una minaccia ("check") per il re avversario che nessuna mossa può fermare. Termina il gioco.

Durante il gioco i due avversari si alternano per spostare uno dei loro pezzi in un diverso riquadro del tabellone. Un giocatore ('Bianco') ha pezzi di un colore chiaro; l'altro giocatore ("Nero") ha pezzi di un colore scuro. Ci sono regole su come si muovono i pezzi e su come togliere i pezzi dell'avversario dal tabellone. Il giocatore con i pezzi bianchi fa sempre la prima mossa. Per questo motivo, il Bianco ha un piccolo vantaggio e vince più spesso del Nero nelle partite di torneo.
